Twitch Channel Point Icon Size Requirements (2026)

Twitch requires channel point reward icons in three sizes: 112Γ—112, 56Γ—56, and 28Γ—28 pixels. Unlike emotes (where Twitch auto-resizes from a single upload), channel point icons must be uploaded in all three sizes separately. Each file must be a square PNG and under 25KB β€” one of the strictest file size limits on the platform.

The 25KB limit applies per file, not combined. So your 112Γ—112 icon must be under 25KB, your 56Γ—56 must be under 25KB, and your 28Γ—28 must be under 25KB. Our tool automatically resizes and compresses your image to meet all these requirements from a single upload.

The 25KB File Size Limit: Why It's So Strict & How to Beat It

Twitch's 25KB limit for channel point icons is much stricter than the 1MB limit for emotes or 128KB for Slack emoji. This is because channel point icons are loaded frequently in the rewards panel and chat overlay, so smaller files mean faster rendering. The limit is a hard cap β€” even 1 byte over will be rejected.

The most effective way to fit under 25KB is PNG color reduction. A full-color PNG at 112Γ—112 can easily be 30–50KB, but reducing to 64 or 32 colors often gets it under 25KB with minimal visual difference. Our tool does this automatically, trying progressively fewer colors until the file fits. For complex images, it may fall back to JPEG compression as a last resort.

How to Upload Custom Channel Point Reward Icons

After resizing your icons with our tool, go to your Twitch Creator Dashboard β†’ Viewer Rewards β†’ Channel Points β†’ Manage Rewards & Challenges. Click on any reward to edit it, then look for the image upload area. You need to upload all three sizes (28Γ—28, 56Γ—56, 112Γ—112) individually. If you see "Use Larger Picture," enable it to show a bigger version of your icon in the rewards panel.

Common upload issues: if Twitch says the image is too large, the file exceeds 25KB β€” use our tool to compress it. If the upload button doesn't respond, try a different browser or clear your cache. If you see a generic error, double-check that your image is exactly the right pixel dimensions (not 113Γ—113 or 27Γ—27 β€” it must be exact).

Why Your Channel Point Icons Look Blurry (And How to Fix It)

At 28Γ—28 pixels, you only have 784 pixels to work with. Complex photos, detailed illustrations, or text will become an unrecognizable blur at this scale. The icons that look best at small sizes use simple shapes, thick outlines, solid fills, limited colors (4–8 max), and high contrast between foreground and background.

Pro tip: design your icon at 112Γ—112 first, then check if it's still recognizable when you squint or view it from across the room. If it's not, simplify. The most effective channel point icons are simple symbols β€” a crown, a star, a lightning bolt, a heart β€” not detailed artwork.

Channel Points Icons vs Sub Badges vs Emotes

Twitch has three types of custom images with different size requirements. Emotes use 112Γ—112, 56Γ—56, 28Γ—28 (same as channel points) but auto-resize from one upload and have a 1MB limit. Sub badges use 72Γ—72, 36Γ—36, 18Γ—18 with a 25KB limit. Channel point icons use 112Γ—112, 56Γ—56, 28Γ—28 with a 25KB limit β€” the hardest combination because you need large dimensions with a tiny file size.

Need to resize sub badges instead? Try our Twitch Badge Resizer which handles the 72Γ—72, 36Γ—36, 18Γ—18 sizes. For emotes, our main Twitch Emote Resizer handles all sizes with animation support.
